Large Pyrargyrite Crystal Group
Large Pyrargyrite Crystal Group from Colquechaca, Chayanta Province, Potosi Department, Bolivia
Collection Robert Lavinsky
Description This Pyrargyrite, a true old-time classic, was originally in the collection of Dr. Ahlfeld, who was known as the 'Father of Bolivian Geology'. There are about two dozen Pyrargyrite crystals up to an inch in size, resting on a matrix of solid, super-lustrous Pyrargyrite. The luster on the crystals is good, and with proper lighting you can see the red glow of this coveted silver mineral (some silver cleaning solution can improve the color and make it bright red, but the antique patina is also desirable.) The lower portion of contrasting matrix is especially flashy. This is a major historical and locality piece!
