Proustite on Calcite Crystals
Proustite on Calcite Crystals from Freiberg, Erzgebirge, Saxony, Germany
Collection Robert Lavinsky
Description A significant pair of Proustite crystals from a historic locality, in display quality and on a nice matrix. The Proustites have the classic silvery luster known as "ruby silver," and the gemmy bright red interiors that you want classic Proustites to have. The two largest crystals up to 2.2 cm, have excellent, attractive form, well-striated faces and are complete all around save for an out-of-sight contact/damage in the back of the standing crystal. Although a very old specimen, it is in fantastic condition from the front display face. The Calcite rhombs that cover the matrix are also sprinkled with small Proustites. A classic small cabinet specimen, unusually displayable on contrasting matrix rather than ore.
