Galaxite - Member of the Spinel series, with a formula of (Mn,Fe²⁺,Mg)(Al,Fe³⁺)₂O₄. This is the scientifically correct formula. However, Galaxite is known as the manganese member of the Spinel series, and when pure its formula is MnAl₂O₄. Galaxite is found in Bald Knob, near Galax, Alleghany Co., North Carolina.
