This is a short instruction guide explaining our log files. The log files are files stored on our server that track the number of hits of each page receives. Since the log files are automatically generated, we cannot alter them or make them simpler. This page describes how to determine the amount of hits for each page

The log files contain detailed statistical information, and once understood are easy to use. To view individual monthly hits, click on the "request report" link at the top of the log file (it is the last link under the "General Summary" title). After you select the link, a list of files and numbers will appear. The numbers (under the #reqs heading) are the amount of hits the page has received since the beginning of the month. If you are viewing statistics of the current month, the amount of hits are from the beginning of the month until present. The numbers will be lower if it is early in the month.

To see the amount of hits of a particular file:
Say you wanted to look up the amount of hits that the tourmaline mineral page received so far this month. You would write down or remember the file name of the tourmaline page (tourmali.htm), then go to the log files, select "edit" > "find" from the menu of the browser, and then type in "tourmali.htm"). This shows you how many hits the page has received.

For more information on how the log files work, see the help information page of our host (Web2010) at http://faq.web2010.com/index.html.
