Description Andalusite variety Viridine is described as a rare manganese-rich Andalusite. This unique specimen features large, blocky, discrete, grass-green to brown Andalusite crystals on a bit of matrix. Dr. Fred Pough, famous mineralogist, author and curator, must have collected or obtained this striking and unusual piece while in Brazil during World War II. Ex. Elling Collection.
