Yellow Jeremejevite Crystal
Yellow Jeremejevite Crystal from Pantahole Mine, Molo Quarter, Momeik Township, Kyaukme District, Burma
Collection Robert Lavinsky
Description This is a spectacular, unusual locality piece! The species is best known from Namibia in vivid blue acicular crystals, from a small pocket long ago. Recently, though, Namibia's Erongo mountains has also produced more blue and yellow. However, none looked quite like this gemmy crystal with its silky luster, gemminess, and sharp elongated termination. This is from a small pocket in 2012 and is said to be one of the very best of the pocket (brought out by gem dealer, Federico Barlocher). This particularly fine crystal from Burma is very glassy and gemmy with a light amber color when set against white. The weight is 14.10 carats. A competition-quality piece (TN or small miniature) from an unusual locale! I have not seen more since purchasing this in 2013.
