Several Sperrylite Crystals on Chalcopyrite
Several Sperrylite Crystals on Chalcopyrite from Talnakh, Noril'sk, Siberia, Russia
Collection Robert Lavinsky
Description Sperrylite is an incredibly rare, crystallized platinum species. Superb crystals with intense luster like these came out of Russia in the 1990's, although many of them may have been mined and stored earlier than that time. This well-balanced, display-quality miniature features sharp crystals of complex habit, to 1 cm in size. They are outstanding in person, and very 3-dimensional. They are also hard to photograph, so this is best seen in person. This piece blows away many others that have turned up on the market recently - it is an old piece of high quality, at the "old price." Joe Budd photo.
