Acicular Brochantite Crystals
Acicular Brochantite Crystals from Copper Queen mine, Bisbee, Cochise Co., Arizona
Collection Robert Lavinsky
Description A jackstraw pattern of acicular, doubly terminated, glassy and gemmy emerald green Brochantite crystals, to 1.2 cm in length, totally cover this specimen. As one moves the specimen around, hundreds of emerald colored Brochantite crystals present a scintillating picture. There is some wear and damage throughout, as is typical of these pieces both because of age (early 1900s) and because they formed as a contacted mass in the ground, and came apart in sections like this when collected or trimmed. An old classic, and one of those hard-to-find companion pieces for a Bisbee suite.
Locality Copper Queen mine, Bisbee, Cochise Co., Arizona
Dimensions 5.5 x 5.0 x 4.5 cm.
